Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-05-14

1. Who we are

dashcamigo is a web app for viewing dashcam recordings, operated by an individual developer ("we"). For any data-protection question or to exercise the rights described below, contact [email protected]. A Data Protection Officer has not been appointed (GDPR Art. 37 criteria do not apply).

2. What we collect

Your video files and GPS logs never leave your device. The app runs entirely in your browser.

We collect only anonymous, aggregate usage data about the app itself:

We do not collect video content, GPS coordinates, file names, accounts, payment data, or sensitive categories (GDPR Art. 9). We do not sell personal data, we do not build remarketing audiences, and we do not send ad personalization signals to advertising platforms. Providing data is not required - the app works either way. The service is not directed at children.

3. Cookies

Cookies are set after analytics or Ads consent is granted. In opt-in regions (EEA, UK, CH, BR, KR, ZA) this happens only after you accept the consent banner; in other regions cookies are set by default and you can opt out via Settings (gear icon → switch off "Anonymous analytics") or your browser's cookie controls.

Cookie Provider Purpose Duration
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics 4 Distinguish returning visitors and store session state Up to 2 years
_gcl_au, _gcl_aw, _gcl_gb Google Ads Store the gclid click identifier so a later conversion can be attributed to the originating Google Ads click. Used for measurement only - we do not build remarketing audiences. Up to 90 days

4. Retention and international transfers

Retention: Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies as in the table; server-side event data 14 months; Cloudflare aggregates per provider terms.

Transfers: Google Analytics and Google Ads process data on US servers under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Google is self-certified). Cloudflare aggregates are anonymous and do not require additional safeguards.

5. Your rights

You have the rights granted by GDPR Art. 15-21 (and equivalent UK GDPR rights), the right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)), and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (list at EDPB). California residents have rights under CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell, but the use of Google Ads conversion measurement may qualify as "sharing" under CPRA - opting out via Settings disables it).

To exercise:

We do not profile users or make automated decisions about them (Art. 22).

6. Third-party services

Map tiles are loaded from OpenFreeMap when you view the map - a regular tile-server request including your IP and the visible map area.

7. Changes

We may update this policy as the service or applicable laws change. The effective date at the top will be updated, and for material changes affecting your rights we reset the consent banner so it appears again on your next visit.
